Hometown BBQ

Highway 29 Lawrenceville, GA

Open Friday and Saturday

770-882-0712

Rated as one of the top 10 in Atlanta.

They make a great bbq sauce too!

Brian Kelly, the proprietor is a good friend but the rating is not mine. Came from the Food Critics @ the Atlanta Journal/Consitution

FLASH! They've just purchased an established bbq restaurant in Lawrenceville. Used to be Gunter's. Longer hours, sure hope the product stays the same. I check out the facility and they've done some great work on renovations, inside and out. Updated the kitchen as well. B):P

Lucky's Steak House

17500 Silver Parkway

Fenton, MI 48430

810-750-1400

This is right off of US23. Some of the best baby-backs ribs anywhere! They also make their own beer. Try their Lucky ale. The prices are VERY reasonable too. My family stops in anytime we are in the area.. B)

BIG BOB GIBSON

1715 6th Avenue SE

Decatur, AL 35601

Phone 256-350-6969

Go to their website at Big Bob Gibsons. Great BBQ since 1925. They also sell sauces, seasonings, videos, clothing, and BBQ tools. I use to get a gallon of their burnswick stew each time I went back to college. I have eaten their BBQ for the last 35 years and it is still one of my favorite BBQ spot. B)

Louise's Open Pit Barbeque

Highway 27

Crystal Springs, MS 39059

Phone: (601) 892-5003

The best pork steak you ever put in your mouth. Large portions and the

best tasting marinade ( which you can purchase). I have tried to duplicate

it but never could.

You have to try the place. It is a hole in the wall place but great food.

Not sure if this is the best, but it is pretty good for us Yankees...No, let me rephrase that...it is pretty good for us Red Sox! By Yankees I meant people up north, in no way implying the baseball team.

I was there yesterday for my birthday and everything was good, but the ribs were a bit overdone, too dark and crisp on the outside. But the flavor was pretty good. There aren't many places in this area that I know of that are great. Have any suggestions?

Nashville, TN (don't have addresses, but there are several locations):

Jack's (one is downtown, one is not far from Opryland, there's at least one more)

I've eaten at a LOT of BBQ joints, and Jacks's stacks up among the best. Reminds me of Mitchell's in Wilson, NC (in my opinion they were the best) but alas, last time I was in Wilson Mitchell's was closed up. (wiping tears)
