grillzebo

I was pretty bummed that all grillzebos in my area were all gone....I tried to find anywhere in canada that I could get it at..but nothing...I started to think the company went under and maybe they did...I tried calling (line disconnected)...emailing (no longer exists)....home depot said they've been trying to get a hold of them to order more but they haven't heard from the vendor in awhile....so when I was ready to buy and found out they were all sold out (only floor models left)...it sucked....and floor models were all reserved or not being let go...

but today my sister in law found a floor model and had to ask the manager twice before he agreed to let her have the floor model..she even got 10% off which was a nice bonus..but to be honest..i would have paid a 10% premium just to take it...

anyways...its in my car now and I'm very happy....I'll take pics once its in the backyard....

but I was wondering with all the grill enthusiasts here..does anyone own one of these? I think they are great and wondering why there's not more copy cats of these...I've only seen 2 and this one kills the other one....

one thing that we Canadians finally have an advantage over is the price on this grillzebo...they sell the grillzebo here for $399 (I think exclusive to homedepot as I haven't seen it anywhere else) which is a HUGE difference from $999

EVERYTHING is the same except my model doesn't come with the lights ($99 value) and the side tables differ....the USA model has side tables of fiberstone (which apparently crack for some people and I think they stopped making them so no replacements)...as for the $399 model, the tables are made of aluminum with bunch of holes in it which I prefer over the fiberstone...but everything else is identical....I'm guessing the fiberstone side tables is the reason for the price hike

I was actually considering the $999 model in the states (when I couldn't find any available here) but it was just way to pricey compared to here..good thing I waited

I'll post some pics in a few weeks once things settle...

for kicks i'll add this link:

this is the only other alternative here in Canada that I've seen for gazebos built for grills:

$399 but not great reviews and a bit ugly

BG,

yeah I used to live in a condo and the rules that I had to abide by...no bbqs ;) , no satellites, no flowers in the balcony...i'm so glad we're out of that mess...its my first year bbqn' and I don't think I can go back....I will definitely take pics....we've been so busy lately...trying to renovate the basement for a home theater and gym, fencing, deck, pool :S

I'll try to take pics of the process....

oh and the grillzebo doesn't heat itself...i'm just looking forward to the roof over my head while bbqn' in the rain...my neighbour has a retractable verdana...and its just embarrassing sometimes when we're both out there...him dry and we wet in the rain...altho for winter months the instruction manual does say to make sure to clear the roof so you don't get a build up of snow (possibly collapse) but it does feel very sturdy

Not to mention that if there's snow above you and you start to cook you might end up with a little rain on your head with that meshed-looking roof when it all melts.

How does the grillzebo handle rain with the meshed-looking roof?

the roof is solid aluminum and from taking it apart, I dont see rain getting in at all...and from reviews it definitely protects from the rain and is quite sturdy...the only complaint really is the side tables being fiberstone and cracking...but the one I have as stated is made of aluminum as well

Hmmm, I haven't seen these anywhere locally! Looks like a quick remedy for low pricing! Aluminum sounds good to me! Imagine my Patty would love to see that up rather than her standing there holding the umbrella over me every rainstorm or ultra hot sunny day! :)

Have to look into this.

I guess I've answered my own question - I went back and read the entire thread from the beginning. I hadn't realized you bought a floor model. I've found two online stores, but the price is more than double yours - $999.00! Too rich for my blood - that'll pay for most of the materials for my permanent setup! Oh well.... :)

Here's two places I found online:

I guess I'm one of those lucky Canadians that got the GrillZeebo for $399! (At Home Depot) With the aluminium shelves, so no cracking and the roof is also solid instead of that ridiculous one they are selling at Canadian Tire Corp. which has a velcro-attached canvas roof! What were they thinking? There is already folks complaining on their site that when it rains, the roof collapses from water accumulation or gets ripped off with high winds...and they are still selling these!

In order to maximise space, I am using the bbq sideways near one end and I installed both side shelves on the opposite side one on top of the other, about a foot apart. And the lid of the bbq can open freely beause of the shelf being on the other end. I found it a better set up for me as the arch of the gazebo is lined up with a patio door from my sun-room. I'll be able to walk out with slippers to bbq, even in the dead of winter.

Do not buy the Canadian tire one, for the reasons explained in my previous post. Get the Home Depot model. I was speaking to a manager and they will be carrying the aluminium one all winter, they're just waiting for stock.

And this is for the other poster..the roof is solid, no holes, only the side shelves have little holes in them, for obvious reasons ;)

Thanks for that tidbit.

I'll have to speak to my store manager and see what's up with stock in our stores.

I gotta say .. I was humming an aaaaring about buying a Grillzebo.. but i decided to get one .. got a great price at Home Despot and its well worth the money .. Mine is on the deck and I move it depending on the season.. for the winter I put it in front of my slding doors and its provides ample shelter from the elements ( I did throw a clear plastic sheet over it to stop any snow or rain coming in from the sides ..that worked well and did not look ugly).. it was really nice to be able to BBQ while the snow was falling and not have to stand in snow ( not that we got a lot this year) .. all in all very happy with Grillzebo..( although the only thing i did not like is the stupid sticker they put on the shelf .. took forever to get off ... <_< ) other than that i would recommend it as a good shelter for the BBQ. I took a look at the CT one for 399, looks like it is not as well made as the grillzebo from Home Despot.. so i am glad i did not get the CT one

Glad i found this site.. got some good ideas already.

Here is a site i use for recipes

Hey folks,

Newbie here & glad I found this site...my Wife & I purchased our Grillzebo about a year ago...because of a large construction project (including a 400 Sq Ft concrete patio designed with the Grillzebo in mind) we were not able to put it up until September...we followed the instructions to the letter (including proper leveling)....including anchoring it with tapcon screws.

Long story short, in mid December that the back plastic 'feet' were badly cracking & a few weeks later one completely shattered. In addition, what I will call the plastic 'crowns' at each top corner were also badly cracking (all 4) plus the BBQ tool shelf over the BBQ collapsed (again the plastic holders broke).

I can post pics of all these issues. I can't figure out why the vast majority of the structure is steel & these parts were made of plastic?

We have all new parts now (the manager at our local HD where we purchased it was nice enough to let us 'raid' another one without having to call the 1-800 #). We pretty much have all new parts except the steel roof panels.

My questions are has anyone else experienced similar problems (especially in cold winter climates)? How did you correct them? I want to take measures to ensure this does not happen a second time.

Any advice or suggestions or additional questions you may have are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
