Fat Willy's in Chicago

4 posts in this topic

i dont want to go to Chicago in October

i went to Chicago in November before and it was like Toronto in January LOL

but my wife is dragging me

9 hr drive - through places like Kalamazoo Michigan - yes they make a very expensive BBQ Grill that looks like an Army Tank

www.kalamazoogourmet.com

and i dont feel like a tour of the factory

but its really one of the worst drives i ever make - not even billboards like on i-75 to keep me thinking of fireworks and burgers

still one place i havent been to

that i put into my blackberry when watching the food network countdowns

Fat Willy's

www.fatwillys.com

they ranked it #2 in America for bbq i belive

now with the foodnetwork shows some are all hype

hoping that some Chiago members can tell me if this place is worth it

or just another one of those TOP 10 show joints

they are famous for their Brisket which is available only after 6pm

and their Ribs - midwest style - the sauce is supposed to be stunning

now dreaming of this place might make the drive worthwhile

thanks in advance

I have never been to fat willys but,

I can tell you that in no way is it in the top 2 places in the lower 48 to get BBQ

BBQ is a reginal thing

The regions are North Carolina, Texas, Memphis and Kanas City

Everybody thinks there region is the best

It depends on what type of meat you want

If you want pulled or chopped pork go to Carlinia

If you want brisket go to Texas

If you want ribs goto Kansas City or Memphis

That dosent mean that fat willy's food is not decent

It's just that it is not even close to being in the top 2

I have never tried Fat Willy's but I am heading down to Chicago next Monday for the Roger Waters concert and I may have to stop and try this place out.
