I'm impressed and would not mind being your neighbor to drop in at meal times. The smell from your grill would give you away. I especially appreciate the time involved to prep the chicken wings so that they would be done the right way.

Great cooks.

Thanks! I'll be honest... those particular wings just happened to come that way. I don't "lollipop" them... if that's what you're referring to.

And the grill doesn't always give away the good eats. I cook a lot indoors as well. I'd probably do more long cooks on the gasser if I had gone NG instead of LP. But that's cool... I like a good smelling house, too! Here's some other meals I've also made in the past couple weeks:

Shrimp and ham "must use or toss night" alfredo:

My first salmon cakes:

Filipino chicken adobo... thighs marinated and braised with soy, vinegar, and coconut milk:

Chicken amandine... one of my favorite all time meals:

And my chicken marsala. Another knockout favorite:

... And tonight's indoor/outdoor combo: Grilled bacon cheeseburgers with leftover slaw from the salmon cakes and oven-baked western fries.

Dave - what a great smorgasbord variety! Thanks for the enticing (and great shots) photos, as well as such interesting presentations. I hear you on the indoor cooking. Until I set up a tv outdoors (hello Bluesin?) I sometimes hate to run outside for some meals as I'm in the middle of say a Nascar race, Supercross, etc... So - I'll cheat on occasion and utilize Patty's stove (I can see and hear our big plasma from the kitchen door) so never a lost moment. Yea, I know - that's what DVR's are for - but when it comes to racing I like it live - rarely do I ever watch a race after it's completion and I know the outcome. Well, for Nascar anyway. The supercross races as well as AMA Motocross I usually watch those recorded, but stay clear of any websites so I don't know ahead of time who wins - which spoils it for me.

But, I'm working on an outdoor TV for this coming summer season - that will be real cool! Much more viable with flat screens than the older box units, eh? :)

Meanwhile, all this talk of wings (thanks, Shelly) has me planning on a few dozen this weekend. A mix of buffalo and bbq. Yea. That's a definite!

Thanks again! Love these photo posts! :)

Yeah, for me it's Phillies games. They just don't play as well when I don't pay attention!

I can't see a TV from the kitchen, but I have other technology at my disposal. There's a set of speakers in the kitchen that feeds off the stereo in the living room, so I can listen in on whatever music or TV is going on. The grill is right outside the kitchen door, so all it takes is an open window or screen door to extend it out there. If it's a really important game, I can use the iPad with Orb (poor man's Slingbox) and watch the game anywhere... even out by the grill. But I rarely go to such measures. I can't really pay attention to visuals while cooking or grilling anyway.

Tonight's Cornell chicken variation. I brined/marinated in soy, rice wine vinegar, lemon juice, beaten egg, oil, and poultry herbs. I know spinning a whole bird is supposed to be where it's at when it comes to grilling chicken, but I'll be damned if I don't get my best results parting out the chicken raw and cooking it with a combo of direct/indirect. It renders the whole surface of each piece and the skin was absolutely crispy perfect. I'm sure the egg helped with the golden color.

Well, cluck me if that isn't a great chicken dinner! Love the cukes/onions! I hear you on parting out the chicken - though I do thoroughly love roto birds - my favorite is the individual wings, thighs, drumsticks and breasts. For the reasons you quote - crisping more of each piece.

Tonight's grilled meatloaf. I make up a bunch of mix and freeze small loaves that thaw and cook quickly. Whole meal came together in about a half hour to fit that narrow window where wifey comes home from her 9-5 and I go into the studio for my 6-2. :P

Fine meal and fine pic. I can almost taste that chicken and sauce.

Nice! What kind of camera do you have? Do you use additional lighting?

Thanks... I love photography and have a Canon DSLR, but all my food shots are with my iPad 3! I have an iPhone 5 which has a technically superior camera, but it doesn't show nearly as much detail for closeups as the iPad does. Different frame angles or something. I compensate for the deficiencies with the free Snapseed app. This pic was a bit overprocessed, but I find anything that will end up on Facebook (as a lot of my shots do) need the overprocessing to survive FB's heavy-handed compression.
