All:

My wife cooked chicken wings on my grill today [with a deep fryer] ... and spilled some oil on the grill.

I used Easy-Off BAM Power Cleaner De-Greaser, and wow, what a job it did. Easily soaponified the grease, and also removed some smoky residue on the edge of the cover. I decided to clean the whole grill, and now it looks like new [on the outside].

I pulled out the grease tray, and a few squirts, and a wipe with a paper towel .... clean.

This stuff worked great, so much so I am now storing the bottle in my grill. rolleyes.gif

I'll have to look for that tomorrow. What store carries it down in your neck of the woods. I've been using Citrus cleaner for ss. Works, but requires more elbow grease than I care for! Mike

No issues using it on SS? Do you think it is something your could use on the inside, grates maybe? Or is it totally off limits for cooking applications? I cooked some greasey bacon and I now have brown marks inside and going out one of the side vents, bothers me a little.......I know I know it is a grill and will get dirty but it is only like a month old!

KG,

I don't see a problem using it on non-food contact surfaces. What really impressed me was that it removed the grease and dried without streaks ... and was squeeky clean to the touch.

I'm not sure I'd want to put it on the food contact grates ... If I did, I'd give them a good rinse with water befor I put food on them.

New to forum - so pardon my ignorance. Are you using the Easy-Off BAM Power Cleaner De-Greaser on the cooking grates? If not, where?

YankeeBobCat:

Not on the grates [I use the hot grate/brass brush/water method there] ... but in the outside, non-cooking surfaces.

Well - I have tried them all - got the Easy-Off Bam and it works kind of ok. But the clear winner in the clubhouse for cleaning the outside of a SS grill is none other than good old Barkeepers Friend. The stuff is amazing - with little effort it removes smoke residue, heat discoloration, and everything else.

Attached Image

You might be able to see those weird lines in the SS in the foreground of the pic - nothing would take those out - until now. The area under the can was wiped quickly this morning. Just put a little on a wet sponge to form a paste, scrub lightly and rinse off with a wet rag. The grill will look like the day I bought it when I finish tonight.

Right on Scott. I had a really nasty smoke stain on my hood shortly after I got my new JA last year. I was sick until some of my friends here told me about BKF. When the usual stuff doesn't work, BKF does. smile.gif It sometimes takes some elbow grease but it truly works.

BillB -

I almost feel stooopid for not thinking of BKF right off the bat. I have been using that stuff on my All Clad SS cookware for years! Must of been a senior moment...
