It's almost two o'clock in the morning, perhaps because I'm so tired this is all becoming confusing to me. I'd love to turn on the computer tomorrow morning and be told I'm way off with my calculations and understanding of this searing phenomenom. Aawwwwww, what the heck, they work, that's basically all I know. And after my morning cup of coffe I'm sure I'll see it exactly your way, Billy Goat. It sure is an interesting topic, and I appreciate the scientific interpretations, graphs and input from you. Good night. Mike
All of this is good from an engineering viewpoint, Too bad Eric D, is busy at work, it would be a lively debate,
But I'm pragmatic, What matter is the temp at the grates, Do any of the owners of the 07 model with the side searing burner have an IR thermometer that can measure the grate temp. I can get up to 900 degrees on my main burners, JA 06 model,
The Sear burner should be do better than that. I believe the right decision was made, the sear burner is defective. It should not take that long to sear a piece of meat.
