This maybe is the dumbest thing I've ever done - now the damn thing is too pretty to use!

Sure do like that Bar Keepers Friend. I did use the Easy Off Bam in a couple of areas. I think those funny black lines on the hood and elsewhere came from a SS protectant I tried when I first got the grill. I am not going to do that again.

Beach,

No way! I don't believe you did that! Jeez, what if my wife sees that, I'll have no excuse any longer! Actually, I think you bought two grills, one all sparkly new looking for photo sessions, and one that you actually use for cooking! LOL!

Seriously, it looks really good. I'm feeling guilty now, thinking how mine was what I "thought" was very nice looking, now in comparison it looks terrible! Guess this weekend I'm gonna have to break out the old BKF, scrapers, steel wool, shop vac, pressure washer, etc.!!!! Thanks for the guilt feelings! And my wife tells ME to "get a life"! Hee Hee! QUOTE(bill b @ Aug 13 2007, 10:08 AM) *Right on Scott. I had a really nasty smoke stain on my hood shortly after I got my new JA last year. I was sick until some of my friends here told me about BKF. When the usual stuff doesn't work, BKF does. smile.gif It sometimes takes some elbow grease but it truly works.

BillB

BillB -

I almost feel stooopid for not thinking of BKF right off the bat. I have been using that stuff on my All Clad SS cookware for years! Must of been a senior moment...

Scott

NP Scott. I have attacks of CRS all the time. biggrin.gif And I'm close enough to be considered senior too I guess.

Aw Mike - you figured it out! I go up to BBQ's Galore and take pictures of the display model!

Rest assured - I didn't go crazy - I did absolutely nothing with the inside. It could stand a little shop vac action in there though - maybe this weekend. Maybe my wife will go away more often when she sees the cool stuff I do when she is gone?

Beach,

You know, when I saw NO photos with the lid up, I had a sneaky hunch you had "something" to hide! <chuckle>

Actually, when I couldn't access the forums last night, I did go outside and pulled out the grates and flame tamers, and did a little bit of house cleaning! No cleansers, just a little scraping and debri removal. Can't believe how much stuff accumulates down there! Looks a lot better, but everything is still black and carboned. I suppose I'll just leave it, I'd be afraid of "losing" the flavoring! Mike

I gotta agree with Mike. That's a new grill and you're hiding the one you really use. biggrin.gif It is a good feeling to see that new grill shine though once you got it all cleaned up. Great job! It gives me some incentive to get mind the "Fall" cleanup. I try at least twice a year to get it close to what you've done. I give the grills and flame tamers a coat of easy off too so the innards get some treatment. Now lets see what you're cooking to get some grease back on that grill. tongue.gif

Hike,

There is a vent across the whole back - right above the IR rotisserie burner box...

You know how some things will work great but have adverse long term effects especially if used too often. Any concerns about that with any of this stuff you guys are using? Just a stupid curious question. unsure.gif

Well - I have tried them all - got the Easy-Off Bam and it works kind of ok. But the clear winner in the clubhouse for cleaning the outside of a SS grill is none other than good old Barkeepers Friend. The stuff is amazing - with little effort it removes smoke residue, heat discoloration, and everything else.

[attachment=1616:bkf.JPG]

You might be able to see those weird lines in the SS in the foreground of the pic - nothing would take those out - until now. The area under the can was wiped quickly this morning. Just put a little on a wet sponge to form a paste, scrub lightly and rinse off with a wet rag. The grill will look like the day I bought it when I finish tonight.

Scott

Ditto to Shelly - right there next to the Comet on the grocery store shelf - I even think Walgreen's, CVS, etc. have it too.

I bought several containers at Sears (Barbecue Department) earlier this summer, they were having a clearance sale on all the Barkeepers products. I took 4 of the stainless steel flavors at half price.
