This is one of the items from my Christmas Dinner.

The other items were a 20# bone In Prime Rib- also rotisserie

Link (will be added later when I post the prime rib)

The third item was 10#s of pork tenderloin, No pictures, because I got too busy trying to balance the cooking of all three items, plus all the veggies.

The turkey was a fresh 15# turkey, and will it just fit into the 8” E-Z-Que rotisserie. I have used the JA rotisserie before I got the e-z-que, but that requires a lot of work balancing the bird on the split. For those that do use a regular rotisserie split, it’s a lot easier if you stick an orange in the butt and pass the split through the orange. It will keep the turkey from moving around, and having to keep from having to keep skewering the turkey so many times to balance the turkey.

Two pictures of the turkey at the beginning and three at the end.

The turkey was injected with a mixture of 16 oz of Italian dressing, garlic, and dry minced onion. I injected the mixture from the edge of the breast at the neck and butt cavity without puncturing the skin. The legs are injected from the tip of the foot and from inside the cavity.
The skin is given a quick coat of butter and a sprinkling of salt, pepper, a little herb spice.

You can see the wireless probe stuck into the breast and going out the bearing.
Link to close up of that set up here.

Hike,

Your turkey looks great. I rotisseried my first turkey (13.5 lbs) for Christmas on my JA 3-burner and it turned out pretty good. I have the JA rotisserie and had difficulty balancing the bird; I will consider using your orange trick next time. How were your burners set up? I used the rotisserie burner and the end burners on low for about an hour and a half, and then shutoff the rotisserie burner and raised the end burners to med-high for the rest of the cook. Total cook time was 3 hours.

Thanks,

I normally just use the rotisserie burner until the skin starts to get dark. then I will shut it off and use the end burners on low-med. (I start the end burners and after about 15 minutes, then turn off the IR burner). I have a large pan of water underneath, so any of the bottom burner would be indirect. Mine was 2.5 hrs with a breast and thigh reading of !60--165 with an instant read thermometer. Then tent for 30 minutes (and it will continue to cook a little).

The time also depends on how cold the turkey is when placed on the grill. I try to remove it from the frig about 45 minutes before placing on the grill.

Hike,

Nice job on the bird! Looks delicious - I can imagine how good it must have tasted!

Thanks for the tip with the orange - very innovative!
