this is what happened on my day off...wife was at work....and my daughter was visiting grandma.....
because most of my friends/family perfer charcoal....i doubled the area of the grill.....even though it works the same as having two 22.5" side by side....i was bored....a couple of pieces of hardware and 15 minutes of my life... |

Interesting, you could be on to something there. I love my Performer. Too bad you couldn't extend the original gril section in the opposite direction so you could maintain a work area in the middle. That would have been ideal. The attached work area is one of the things I like most about the Performer design.

I like it! Can you take a picture from above the two kettles? I have a new green Performer and picked up another used one yesterday for $40! Just needs a new one-touch cleaning blades ($12). i will try to take a pic sometime this week....i am trying to find something to fit between the grills so i can have some sort of table/work station... |

Could you cut one of the shelves, that you took off. The one side is already the correct shape and you could trace a line from the other one to make a template. -------------------- Greg

Could you cut one of the shelves, that you took off. thats a good suggestion....but just in case i get bored again....i may want to convert it back to a single kettle...i was thinking some kind of cutting board/butchers block... Then you could try getting a piece of corian and cutting it to fit, I just don't know how it would handle the heat. Your best bet would be to have a decent weight piece of stainless that you could get cut to fit. -------------------- Greg
