Weber his month posted a i-phone app (weber"s on the grill) it has 300 recipies 'a timer ,a cooking guide some instructional video"s & will make a shopping list. it's pricy for an i-phone app ($4.99) but probably cheap for a weber cook book Any one with any experience ?

i just got an iphone and love some of the applications i can use it for, but the last thing i'm doing or thinking about when cooking and/or bbqing is my phone. i wouldn't want to be on my phone near the bbq and/or searching for recipes on a 3" screen.
i would stick to the hardcopy of the weber cookbook or better yet, just use the recipies found on this site or find them thru google. -------------------- Vermont Castings VM448N 3 Burner Natural Gas Grill with Mica Blue Lid

So how are you suppose to cook, drink a beer, follow a recipie and hold a hone all at the same time and with only two hands. You would be much better served using the Weber card deck , which is around the same price and has washable receipie cards with ictures of the finished meal and a grill guide to boot. Of course nothing takes the lace of there cookbook. the iPhone is a nice phone with some very useful applications, but everything else you said, I agree. PS... thaet iz sum crasy speling As soon as Verizon strikes a deal with Apple, I'll be first in line for an iPhone! But I can't bring myself to switch over to AT&T just to use the phone... Around here Verizon (service) rules! Recipes? Heck - get yourself any decent and cheap (or free download) recipe program (I wrote my own using an old version of Appleworks Database - ver.6.2.4) and just keep printing your favorites onto index cards. The most commonly used ones I laminated to keep them from getting messed up. The program was free, the cardstock virtually pennies, and the effort to maintain the recipe book is nil. Plus - I can just keep printing as many copies as I need forever! Good idea though, just bad execution. The tiny screen is the deal loser, and with my EVOO greased up fingers - I'd fer sure drop the dang thing into my grill and burn it up! Now, on the other hand, someone like Bluesin, who has a big LCD screen out on his patio - well that takes the cake! Sync the iPhone with the TV, and follow the recipe and videos in big screen splendor! With surround sound to boot! Mike -------------------- "Grill yer Steaks and Smoke dem Ribs"

I wish I had an iphone just for this app.
So many times I'm at the store, away from my cookbooks wondering what the hell it is I want to buy for dinners. Or I'm at work where everything is blocked and I just want to look for something new for that evening. Nifty! |

My wife just got an Iphone and loves it so I had to get one. I really hate Apple computers! but I love the Iphone! I found out that AT&T has Refurbished Iphones for $49.00 with a 2 year contract. Refurbished by them means that it was returned to AT&T before the 30 day trial period was over. My refurbished Iphone didn't have one scratch and it came with all the perifials as the new one.

i'm with FIDO in canada, which is owned by ROGERS.
i'm on the BASIC BASIC plan. like 50min (billed by the second which is nice), 50 out text, unlimited in text and NO OTHER FEES, except tax. bill is $16.10 a month. i don't use it much, just for emergencies and now i basically have an iPod, PDA and phone that i can put apps on. i have NO DATA PLAN, i have data block from the carrier, so i can't accidentally connect when i'm out, but i can use all the WIfi i want for free. so i can use it outside in my yard, or anywhere in my house (with my router), at mcdonalds, starbucks, colleges etc, pretty much everywhere i go. as nice as the DATA would have been, the $30/mth for 5GB of data couldn't be justified, i mean it's 200% more than the cost of my voice plan and when i'm at work if i want wifi, i just go outside and stand outside the college etc. http://fido.ca/web/page/portal/Fido/Monthl...To=monthlyPlans -------------------- Vermont Castings VM448N 3 Burner Natural Gas Grill with Mica Blue Lid

I'm with Verizon, and it really bugs me that an iPhone (which I lust for - my daughter has one) is not an option with my carrier. I've heard rumors that this may be an option for 2010. Hopefully it will be more than an rumor. I stay with Verizon rather than switch to AT&T because of the excellent service here in my area. AT&T cannot come close to the coverage Verizon has, who dominates our area. Which is good as most of my friends, family, clients and shop suppliers are also with Verizon. No charged minutes when talking in-house with Verizon.
Here is an article on this subject. I hope it precipitates opening the market to other carriers such as Verizon. http://www.macrumors.com/2009/07/06/u-s-de...ity-agreements/ I'm a big Apple fan - I've used their computers since 1984 exclusively. And have gone through the growing family of iPods. And want to grow with the iPhone - but not through AT&T! Mike -------------------- "Grill yer Steaks and Smoke dem Ribs"
