I saw this product on the HGTV Grills and Patios show, and am wondering if anyone here utilizes this tool for cleaning their grates?

It looks like a well thought out design.
I'd like to get some expert opinions about this tool before I purchase.

TIA,

I have not used this device but it looks pretty cool. I would expect it to work well.

I'd actually be a bit hesitant to use something like this daily. Might be good for the thicker, caked on gunk, and getting to the underside of the grates is certainly an inventive idea. But I think you also need something that can scrub the grate with an uneven surface.

I use the Grill Wizard and really like it. Inexpensive and easy to replace the scrubbies. I ordered some cleaner from a place called Diablor Products, but haven't received it yet. But even on it's own, the GW works pretty darn well.

If you get it, let us know how it works!

Dustin,

I don't have the Grill Wizard, but I do have some of the ss scrubbies pad. I have used them with tong or used them with an old handle and they did do a very good job. Better than the brass brush. Also even when the grill is cool, and I just doing a general wipe down of the surface (you know like washing your car once in a while laugh.gif ). when the grates are cool, and just by hand with the ss scrubbies pad, the grates takes on a nice golden glow. I can't believe I just go out and wipe down the grill, Maybe I need to get a life.

I believe the other tool will be useful for a quick pass on the side and underneath part of the grate.

Ditto on the the Grill Wizard - great tool. Every couple of weeks I turn the grids over, heat them up and scub them with the wizard. Hike - just going out and wiping down the grill for entertainment is maybe something you shouldn't say out loud laugh.gif

There's no doubt this product would work well, especially if the cut-out is the same size as your grate diameter. Unlike most products, this one will also clean the junk that hangs down from the underside of your grate.

The only down side is it can be time consuming as you can not run it past a horizontal support rod. So you will have to run it up against the cross support, remove the tool, and re-attach on the other side of the support rod.

Prehaps the best set up would be a Grill Wizard for cleaning the top after each use and then a Grill Floss for those monthly cleanings of the "gate leftovers". rolleyes.gif
