On the topic of eating healthy, its interesting to see how people in other parts of the world achieve this goal. A friend of mine was recently in South Korea and was treated to what many Koreans consider a very healthy delicacy, Sannakji. This dish is a small live octopus freshly killed and sliced and served on a plate for your immediate satisfaction. Its typically served with sesame and sesame oil to help prevent the suction cups from sticking to your mouth or throat!

Although the octopus is killed instantly, the nerve endings remain very active and cause quite alot of residual movement and suction in the tentacles. Some restaurants post warnings to chew well as this phenomenon can pose a choking hazard particularly for those who may have had one too many cocktails! Other more experienced diners purposely don't chew as much since they enjoy the squirmy sensation.

I'm a pretty adventurous eater and I really enjoy a quality sushi/sashimi meal, but I think I might draw the line here... but you never know after a few drinks....

Check out this video if you're not too squeamish!

Now on the other hand, some quickly grilled octopus marinated in olive oil with citrus and spices, and a nice frosty malt beverage....awesome!

I'd eat it. Love octopus (from what I've had, which is admittedly rather limited...)

I think there are very few things I'd actually not try. I'd even try a Durian ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durian#Flavour_and_odour ) if given the chance. I only really draw the line at things I would imagine are untasty AND a lot of work (skorpions in shells or really anything requiring a skillset in order to learn to eat).

Sometimes they don't kill the octopus and it tries to climb back out, saw it on TV. I'd try it but I think i'd like to kill it first. That said, octopus is one of my very favorite foods. I love it grilled, but I'm wondering for awhile how it would handle being smoked. Durian is delicious, it's the stinky cheese of fruits. If you have a chinese or vietnamese market around you can get it frozen. I've only had it frozen, but many of my friends say it's better than fresh.
